On Sunday 26th of October 2025, I had the chance to go to Nine Elms, so here is a blog post of the area and a station review of the station itself.
I took an Elizabeth Line train from Goodmayes to Tottenham Court Road, changing for a Northern Line train towards Battersea Power Station.

Station information:
Station name: Nine Elms station
Located in: Nine Elms, (South West) London
Borough: London Borough of Lambeth
Fare Zone: Zone 1
Nine Elms station is in Zone 1 of the tube map. It is served by the Northern Line as part of the Battersea Power Station extension. The station opened on Monday 20th of September 2021 - being one of the more recent stations on the tube network. Battersea Power Station is the terminus of this extension (which is the next stop). There was another station called Nine Elms however, it closed on 11th of July 1948. The New Covent Garden Market now occupies the station.

When I arrived at the station, it is very spacious, huge! You can definitely tell how modern this station is compared to the other stations on the network. Only two platforms here. Northbound platforms heading towards High Barnet, Mill Hill East and (at times) Edgware (all going via the Charing Cross branch). Southbound platforms for trains heading to Battersea Power Station. The frequencies are usually around 10 minutes roughly.

I was meeting up with some friends near the station. One of them told me that they saw 20 people, push through the ticket barriers and duck underneath them, without validing their cards on the reader. He told the station assistant but he didn't do anything - just "shrugged". Another friend told me that in some countries that they have been to, that the station assistant does not intervene if a person is fare evading on the train network (or in this case the subway). I mean, I wasn't there to see this myself, but fare evading does happen - not that I have seen 20 people do it in my experience.... anyways they are the ones taking the risk and sometimes it's better to protect yourself than get involved (unless it's severe etc).

From an outsiders perspective, as I am not from South West London, the area looks not too bad. Of course, there been some regeneration happening in the area and there are some local shops and restaurants nearby which is good, if you want to buy something. Vauxhall station is also a short walk too, good for onward connections. Four routes serve the station along with one night route;

452 (Vauxhall Bus Station to Ladbroke Grove Sainsburys - usually goes to Kensal Rise but has been cut for a while now, to Ladbroke Grove due to congestion at the Kensal Rise bus stand.)
Update September 2026: The route no longer goes from Ladbroke Grove Sainsburys to Vauxhall, this was cut back to Notting Hill Gate on the 29th of November 2025, owing to lack of bus stand space at Kensal Rise.

That's all from me. I came back home pretty late on this day but was quite enjoyable. I hope to visit Battersea Power Station at some point.
